Our adventure in Astral Space begins on a ship, like many other ships out there, however this one is an exceptional merchant vessel. Two of our adventurers are aboard this Spelljammer as it becomes aware of an intercepting ship. Their intentions are unknown and the captain has called everyone to battle stations.
Startled and drowsy from the sudden call to arms, crews begin to man and make ready the three ballistas onboard. They are coming quickly into the range of the ships weapons and our warlock has provided some distractions in the form of dancing lights off the bow of the ship. As the lights assemble into a vaguely human form flying ahead of the ship, a ballista bolt streaks from the Damselfly class ship heading towards them.
The bolt impacts the ship doing minimal damage onboard, the captain and helmsman laugh at the amateur attempt of the pirate ship to fire at long range. As soon as her ships weapons are in range she orders all ballista to fire, causing sufficient damage to the Damselfly. Meanwhile our warlock is targeting their crew with eldritch blasts.
More shots are exchanged and the helmsmen adjusts the ships course to ram the Damselfly. As the final arrows, bolts and spells are exchanged between the ships, all hands prepare for impact. The Damselfly attempts to turn away but it was too late. Our ship impacts the Damselfly broadside destroying the rear deck.
Our adventurers board the damaged Damselfly, the rouge quickly dispatching all remaining crew on the top decks. The Hexblade Warlock then enters the lower decks to secure the helm but it greeted with gunfire and arrows as he opens the hatch. Jumping down he engages with the Captain, first mate and helmsmen, all while holding down a hatch that was full of reinforcements.
With the rouges help they were able to dispatch all but the helmsman, who surrendered quickly after the captain was killed. All resistance quelled, our captain boards the pirate vessel to determine what to do next.
